Why now?
I need a place to vent and decided tumblr would be it. Everything seems to be clicking this year professionally. I am loving my new third grade class! They are awesome kids and ACED the new standardized reading and math test the system is using to judge us by…..I cannot stand standardized tests and totally refuse to teach to the test, so this is awesome.
I am totally psyched that they will blow the top off the ARMT test in April with my just teaching the standards, and not just teaching to the test. I am vested in this 100%. Yes, I have a point to prove.
I began work on my EdS in teacher leadership and have really enjoyed the challenge. I am only taking one class. That was a wise decision since it was 7 years ago that I became National Board Certified and 11 years ago that I earned my masters.
Top that off with being the Lead Technology Teacher at my school. We have a new administration. The school is being converted from K-5 to P-8. I have to take off for workshops to “train the trainer” and then come back and lead Inservice training to insure all of our staff can use the new operating system for the school AND the new assessment format.
With all of this going on…….the doctors found an irregular mass in my breast, and I go see a surgeon on the 15th. I know I shouldn’t worry. This happens to alot of people, and it winds up to be nothing. But this sort of thing runs in my family. My aunt went thru this last year as did a cousin. I know the drill. At the least, this will mean a biopsy.
I am really trying not to worry. It is not death I fear at all. I fear missing school! A sub cannot do what I want to do with my class. I fear having to drop my college class because I won’t have the energy. Ok, I fear pain a little.
And for now all I can do is plow ahead trying to stay positive while I wait for two+ weeks.
Customize them for your own classroom.
